Pivot’s first event was a real success! On Tuesday, November 16th we hosted our first design mixer. We worked with Rob Curedale and the Design Foundation to round up designers in the greater Toronto area to meet and discuss the topic of Design Research. We had designers from Architecture, Academia, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, UX, Social Media, and many other fields come out to join us.
With speakers like Luigi Ferrera, Director of the School of Design and Institute Without Boundaries at George Brown College, Todd Woods, VP Industrial Design at RIM/BlackBerry, and our very own Ian Chalmers, Design Director at Pivot Design Group, we had over 100 RSVP’s and an amazing turnout despite the freezing cold rain that night. After the short presentations, most of the crowd stuck around for at least two hours — which is saying something for a weeknight! At around 11:00pm, the Pivot team decided to pack-up and call it a (wonderful) night.
Many thanks to all those who came out and took part in an event that we hope is the first of many in the GTA. And a very big thank you to our friends at the Black Moon Lounge.
