After our last DesignMeets mixer at the Spoke Club, we were approached by Dominique Scheffel-Dunand (Director of the UofT McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology) to help the McLuhan100 team to organize another event. This time on Marshall McLuhan’s birthday — what an honour!
So! Here it is: DesignMeets, Pivot Design Group and the McLuhan100 present DesignMeets… McLuhan + You.
Join us on July 21st for cake, drinks and conversation at the McLuhan Coach House, to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Marshall McLuhan in the very place where he held his legendary Monday night seminars. We’ll be exploring the points of collision between the probes (listed here) and the design community.
If you’ve been to a DesignMeets before, then you’ll be expecting the 5-ideas, 5-images in 5ish-minutes format BUT this time around we’ve decided to shake it up a bit. Upon registration, guests will be emailed a probe — a question about a ‘McLuhan-ism’ as it relates to today. We encourage you to come ready to contemplate/riff/reflect upon your given probe for 2 minutes at the event. Sharing of your thoughts, of course, is totally optional.
More info and RSVP information for this birthday DesignMeets event can be found here. Also, stick around after 6pm on July 21st for another commemorative event (details to be announced on McLuhan100.ca soon).
As always, we hope to see you there at this free event!Tags: community, design meets, events, mcluhan, mixer, toronto
